“The man has been caught… based on the knowledge we presently have, this person carried out these crimes alone,” police chief Oeyvind Aas said.
“A number of people have been injured, and a number of people have died,” Aas said. He wouldn’t say how many people were killed.
According to police, the attacks took place over “a vast area” of Kongsberg, a municipality in southeastern Norway with a population of roughly 28,000 people.
Norway’s minister of justice and public security, Monica Maeland, has received updates on the attacks and was closely monitoring the situation, the ministry said.
